Background

Karyn Model is a Director of Economics at Resolution Economics LLC, an economics and statistics consulting firm with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York, and Charlotte. She received a B.A. in Economics Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from Harvard University. At Harvard her fields of concentration were econometrics and labor economics.

Dr. Model has extensive experience in the development and application of economic and statistical analyses in the areas of labor and employment. She has worked on numerous engagements involving issues of discrimination in the workplace, including allegations concerning hiring, promotion, termination, pay, and other employment practices. Dr. Model also has significant experience working on wage and hour matters; she has analyzed company data and also participated in the development, design, and analysis of surveys and observation studies to assess wage and hour claims. Her experience includes both the analysis of statistical issues and the assessment of damages in both single Plaintiff and multi-Plaintiff settings.

Prior to joining Resolution Economics, Dr. Model was a Senior Consultant at National Economic Research Associates (NERA) in Los Angeles. Before that she was an Economist at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California. She has had her research published in the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Annals of Internal Medicine, Inquiry, The Daily Journal, and Employee Relations Law Journal. Dr. Model has been named as an expert witness in several matters and has provided expert testimony at deposition, in mediation, at arbitration, in California Superior Court, Arizona Superior Court, and in New Mexico State Court.
