Overview


Kelly Melle is a Director at Resolution Economics LLC, an economics, statistics, forensic accounting and economic damages consulting firm with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York. Prior to joining the firm, Kelly was a Director in the Financial Advisory Services practice of AlixPartners and a Manager in the Dispute Analysis and Investigation practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. In total, he has over 20 years of experience in performing financial and economic analysis in civil litigation matters involving economic damages and forensic investigations. He has experience across a broad range of industries including real estate, financial services, insurance, consumer products, technology, oil/gas, manufacturing and entertainment. Kelly has been retained as an expert witness to testify in matters involving economic damages and investigative issues. A few examples of Kelly’s engagement experience include:

Fast Food - Computed the economic damage and loss of value suffered by a marketing agency as a result of a scheme by insiders to steal winning sweepstakes tickets from an international fast food restaurant company.

Agriculture – Evaluated a pistachio processor’s calculation of economic damage allegedly caused by the breach of a supply contract by a pistachio grower.

Consumer products – Assessed the economic damage to a class of consumers caused by alleged false advertising of the nutritional benefits from a nationally distributed super premium juice product.

Higher education – Assessed the economic impact a large hydroelectric power generation facility had on a Catholic university over a 50-year period.

Real estate – Computed the alleged economic damage suffered by the developer of a 50-story luxury hotel, hotel-condominium and condominium building located in the heart of the Las Vegas, Nevada casino strip.

Environmental – Computed the economic damage suffered by a large private equity firm as a result of an inadequate asbestos abatement of a luxury apartment building in Beverly Hills, California.

Mortgage lender – Analyzed and responded to a fraudulent conveyance damage claim by the liquidating trustee for a bankrupt top 20 mortgage lender.

Consumer product – Investigated alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by an international manufacturer and distributor of consumer products.

Medical device – Investigated the volume of dental implant products sold by a Lebanese affiliate of a U.S. based medical device manufacturer to buyers located in Iran pursuant to an Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) inquiry.

Professional sports franchise – Investigated the sources and uses of capital by the owner of a major sports franchise on behalf of the commissioner of the sports league.

Hospitality – Accounted for the inflow and outflow of funds from numerous operating bank accounts of four homeowner associations in a large hotel condominium project.

Commercial leasing – Led a team of investigators who evaluated the underlying collateral to four securitizations exceeding $100 million in value on behalf of large international insurance company.

Kelly has authored and co-authored articles involving economic issues and has provided educational programs to law firms involving economic damages, valuation and financial issues. He has also been a speaker for the Appraisal Institute involving economic damage issues in real estate litigation matters. Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in real estate from Arizona State University.
