An article (“EEOC Targets AI-Based Hiring Bias in Draft Enforcement Plan”) in the January 12th issue of Bloomberg Law News reports that the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will turn its enforcement attention to artificial intelligence tools used by employers to hire workers.
Victoria A. Lipnic, Esq., a Partner at Resolution Economics, LLC and Chair of The Institute For Workplace Equality’s Artificial Intelligence Technical Advisory Committee which recently released its report on “EEO and DEI&A Considerations in the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Employment Decision Making”, says, “Employers need to take note: if allegations of discrimination are made they are not going to be allowed to claim ‘it wasn’t me; the algorithm did it!’”
